One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer - It's A Start

Friday! I thought it would never get here.
The weekend starts as soon as the whistle blows at quittin’ time today.

Our favorite things on the Bus are good friends, good music, and good drink. Life just doesn’t get any better than when the three are combined.

Y’all have a good weekend!

Tampa Red & His Chicago Five - Let's Get Drunk And Truck.mp3

Amos Milburn - One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer.mp3

Side Note: I hope you caught Grace Potter & The Nocturnals on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night.

It is the B.C. Day long weekend. Think I'll pass on the bourbon and have two scotches and a beer.

Beer, Happy B.C. Day!
Isn't everyday a holiday while the union is on strike?

ps- I'll have your bourbon, wouldn't want it to go to waste.

Hi Ed,
Love the Tampa Red! It has that sleazy juke-joint feel to it. I've always wished I could have been there to see those beautiful ladies shaking their goods. By the way, it must have been hard for Tampa Red to avoid singing the obvious word that he wanted to sing instead of "truck". Great post!

Hi Ed,

Just found your blog. Like the selection of tunes and the way you throw in the cultural artifacts to go with 'em.

Hi Dan,
"Let's Get Drunk and Truck" was a fairly popular tune. I have renditions by several artists ranging from blues to western swing. Like you, I like the juke joint feel that Tampa Red brings to the song.

Hi Doug,
Welcome to the Bus! Thanks for the kind words about the music and my mindless ramblings.

I really expected to hear a report from you about Clifftop, but I suppose you didn't make it either!

I am still working long, strange hours and have to limit my festival visits to local affairs for a few more weeks. Clifftop is close (great paddling on the New River, too!), but not close enough.

See ya there next year?

I don't watch Jay Leno. For some reason, I find him to be a jerk. But millions of Americans can't be wrong. Right?

Oh yes Ed, I did catch that pretty young thang on the TV. Grace can sing so well and I love her on organ. (did I say that properly?) I try to tell many of my young friends about her and how good she is.

nice to hear an older version of
